The Typica has been one of the most influencing varieties in Colombian coffee history. This Ethiopian variety was discovered during the 15th century and spread through South America in the 18th century.

The Typica variety was very popular in Colombia for its fantastic sensorial characteristics. However, due to the susceptibility of the plant to Leaf Rust, a massive renewal was made replacing the ancient variety. Typica’s are characterized by their tall shape and high flexibility. In La Palma & El Tucan this variety was planted in 2012 amongst ancient Typicas that were originally planted in the farm. Currently, this variety has 400 trees planted on terroir #3 located within 1.700 and 1.750 m.a.s.l.
